# 0242 — Commercial model: per-product plan ladders, shared add-ons, hybrid metric, and a 14-day trial

> Completes [0203](/adr/0203-the-commercial-model-billing-provider-and-tier-names): this ADR holds
> the ladder, the add-ons, the metric and the trial. The billing provider is ADR 0203.

## Context

Figentra sells several products (Academorix, Juristra, Retail OS and others) on one account. The owner's commercial answers of 2026-10-20 night (mem L947–952, the last entries of the decision file) fix the buying unit, the metric, the ladder, and the trial. The first ladder had a Free column, and the owner's final answer dropped it.

## Decision

1. **Buying unit.** A plan ladder for each product, plus shared platform add-ons on the one account (AI credits, extra storage, SSO, advanced audit, marketplace apps). Add-ons work across products.
2. **Metric.** Hybrid: a platform fee per tier, plus seats for internal users only (a tenant's end customers are never seats), plus metered usage for the cost drivers: AI credits, storage in GB, SMS, WhatsApp and email messages, automation runs, and API calls over the included amount.
3. **Tiers.** Starter, Pro, Business and Enterprise. There is no Free plan (memory L952, final).
4. **Ladder (placeholders, editable per product in the console).** Seats, scope depth, storage, AI credits, automation runs, API rate, and the other limits are in the table below. The owner's ladder was given for five columns; the four-column values are the accepted ladder (see open questions).

| Limit | Starter | Pro | Business | Enterprise |
| - | - | - | - | - |
| Seats (internal users) | 10 | 50 | 250 | custom |
| Scope depth below the tenant | 2 | 4 | 8 | unlimited |
| Storage | 25 GB | 250 GB | 1 TB | custom |
| AI credits per month | 2k | 20k | 100k | custom |
| Automation runs per month | 5k | 50k | 500k | custom |
| API rate | 300 rpm | 1.2k rpm | 6k rpm | custom |
| Audit retention | 30 days | 90 days | 13 months | custom, with export |
| Sandbox environments | 0 | 1 | 3 | custom |
| Custom domain | yes | yes | yes | yes |
| White-label | no | yes | yes | yes |
| SSO | — | add-on | included | included |
| SCIM | no | no | yes | yes |
| Region choice | no | no | yes | dedicated |
| Support | email | priority | 24-5 with SLA | 24-7 with TAM |
| Marketplace apps | free apps | free apps | free apps | private apps |
| On-prem and air-gap | no | no | no | yes, by Keygen licence |

5. **Trial.** A new tenant gets a 14-day Pro trial with no card. It needs email and phone verification, and one trial per organisation.
6. **After the trial.** The tenant chooses a paid plan. If it does not, the tenant goes read-only. Its data is kept for 30 days and stays exportable, then it is deleted with notice.
7. **Every gate is an entitlement.** Code is free, and the runtime gate reads the plan (ADR 0215). A tenant calling a feature it is not entitled to gets "requires subscription" with the upgrade path.

## Consequences

* A price page can only list what the table lists, because the tiers and limits are data in the entitlement system.
* Read-only with a 30-day export is the end of the trial, so a tenant is never deleted without a warning and a way out.

## Enforcement

planned — the entitlement table is checked against this ADR by a test; the trial state machine follows the tenant lifecycle (ADR 0210).

## Open questions

1. **Settled.** The four-column mapping is the accepted ladder as written: the Starter, Pro, Business and Enterprise columns. Free is dropped (memory L952).
2. **Settled.** Scope depth is Starter 2, Pro 4, Business 8 and Enterprise unlimited, as the ladder row above says (owner answer, "Part-D clarifications"). It replaces the earlier "Business and above unlimited" line (memory L878).
3. **Settled.** Starter support is email, as the ladder column says.

## Supersedes and sources

Supersedes: none. Completes: [0203](/adr/0203-the-commercial-model-billing-provider-and-tier-names). Sources: owner commercial answers (`stackra-decisions-2026-10-19.md` L947–952, the final entries, 2026-10-20 night); the scope-tree line L878 (earlier, superseded on depth by L950).
