# Testing

> Tests live next to the code they prove.

There is no root `tests/` folder. Each member owns its tests:

| Kind | Where | Runner |
| - | - | - |
| Unit / component | `src/**/__tests__/*.test.ts(x)` inside the member | vitest (`pnpm test`) |
| App end-to-end | `apps/<app>/e2e/` | Playwright, added with the first flow |
| Encore services | beside each service | `encore test` |
| Repository scripts | `tools/scripts/__tests__/*.test.mjs` | `node --test` (part of `pnpm validate`) |

The vitest presets set `passWithNoTests: false`, so a member with an empty suite fails.
