Amends 0024: the “every package.json says MIT” rule of decision 1 is replaced by the licence split below.

Context

0024 (Accepted) chose MIT with exclusions. The owner’s organisation answers OR2 to OR12 (mem L577–578, L359, L585, 2026-10-20) fix the contributor agreement, the licence split, trademarks, notices and release notes.

Decision

  1. Contributors (OR4). The Developer Certificate of Origin (DCO) is used. No contributor licence agreement.
  2. Pledge (OR5). An open-core pledge page is published.
  3. Trademarks (OR7). Stackra and Figentra are registered in the UAE first, then in Madrid.
  4. Notices (OR8). Ported MIT code keeps its headers, and a NOTICE file lists it (ORIGIN.md and THIRD_PARTY_NOTICES.md).
  5. Escrow (OR10). Source escrow is available on request through a provider.
  6. Release notes (OR3 and audit Q6). Changesets write release notes. A changelog formatter maps the change type to an emoji. The gate checks that pull-request titles carry the emoji and the conventional type. Commits stay plain.
  7. Licence split. @stackra/* is public MIT. @figentra/* apps and services are UNLICENSED and private.

Consequences

  • A contributor signs off a commit with the DCO, not a separate agreement.
  • The licence split is per scope, so a package’s licence follows its name.

Enforcement

planned — commitlint.config.mjs and the gate check pull-request titles; the validator’s licence check reads each package.json.

Alternatives

  • CLA: rejected by OR4.

Supersedes and sources

Supersedes: none. Amends: 0024 decision 1. Sources: owner answers OR2–OR12 (stackra-decisions-2026-10-19.md L359, L577–578, L585, 2026-10-20). Contradiction C-27 is closed by OR4.
