Supersedes 0319 decision 1 (the
steel-blue accent). 0319 decisions 2 (glass quiet buttons on the web) and 3 (native) stand
unchanged. Reserved number: 0463, the next free after 0462 on every branch and worktree of
stackra/core on 2026-10-28.
Context
ADR 0319 gave the stackra theme a steel-blue accent on the wordmark’s hue (oklch(0.5 0.12 248) light,
oklch(0.72 0.11 248) dark, #1C67A4 / #6AAAE6). On 2026-10-28 the owner looked at steel against other picks for
the family’s brand books and chose a neutral steel instead. The brand session recorded it as binding rule §31 in
figentra/brand (commit 0a475ed) and changed the brand’s tokens (brands/stackra/tokens/color.json, theme.json,
heroui/web.css), which say they mirror @stackra/tokens. Core now has to match them. The same round redrew the
Beam-S so the wordmark reads “stackra” (brand commit 86ec08a) and fixed the tagline (rules §29 and §30).
Decision
-
The accent is neutral steel. It sits at oklch hue 252 and chroma 0.03, copied from the brand, never retuned
here:
focusis the accent.accent-foregroundstays the kit’s paper and ink: paper on the accent is 4.53:1 (light) and ink on the dark accent 9.42:1.accent-soft-foregroundonaccent-softis 7.72:1 and 9.85:1. All pass WCAG 2.2 AA for text, and the focus ring stands 3:1 or more from the page.linkandsignalstay neutral. Stackra owns no hue on the family wheel; amber stays Figentra’s.
-
The accent is not a hue-separation subject. ADR 0340 decision 5 separates an accent from the status colours by
25 degrees of hue or 0.1 of lightness, and reads no hue under chroma 0.03. The neutral steel sits on that edge, so a
status could never be read in its hue. The stackra theme’s test stops asserting the accent’s separation and asserts
the banners’ separation from the status colours only. A product theme with a chromatic accent is still checked, and
resolveThemestill applies a brand policy’s separation rules. -
ADR 0319 decisions 2 and 3 stand. The quiet button variants stay glass on the web with no backdrop filter, and
the native route is unchanged. Their label rule (4.5:1 over black and white at rest, hover and pressed) now covers
the new
accent-soft-foreground. -
The brand mirror.
assets/data/stackra/brand.jsonrecords the new accent and the tagline, “One backend, every surface.” and «أساس واحد، لكل واجهة.». Core’s copies of the wordmark (the docs logos, the static worker’s inline SVG, the playground and mobile wordmark components) take the redrawn Beam-S: three beams joined by two posts in the same 7.1 stroke and 53.2 x-height, the brand’s path copied and placed with a translate, never redrawn. The small wordmark keeps its real “s”.
Consequences
- Every Stackra web and native surface on the stackra theme turns from steel blue to steel grey; primary buttons read as the brand’s neutral, and the focus ring is grey-blue.
- The kit’s token reports in
assets/data/stackra/(color,aliases,contrast,resolved,separation) still record the kit 0.1.0 as approved, with its neutral ink accent. ADR 0319 left them so, and so does this ADR; the theme constant is the source and its test holds it to the brand’s hex. - The specs of STA-425 and the docs and playground pages that say “steel blue” are history or need a follow-up outside this batch’s paths.
Enforcement
stackra-theme.constant.test.ts: the frozen snapshot holds the new oklch values; the accent family sits at hue 252
with chroma above 0 and at most 0.03; its derived hex equals the brand’s hex for all six roles in both schemes;
paper and ink on the accent are 4.5:1 or more and close to the brand’s 4.53 and 9.42; the focus ring stands 3:1 from
the page; the quiet button labels hold 4.5:1.
